PH receives 867k Pfizer vaccine doses for minors

The Philippines received 866,970 doses of government-procured Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines on Friday night, with another similar shipment arriving Saturday night.

These vaccines are intended for the inoculation of adolescents aged 12 to 17 across the country.

The arrival of the vaccines was facilitated through the support of the United States government.

Assistant Secretary Wilben Mayor thanked the US government for facilitating the delivery of these doses, which are part of 1.7 million doses that arrived over the two days.

The nationwide vaccination rollout for minors began this week, following a pilot program for children with comorbidities in Metro Manila that started on October 15.

As of Thursday, November 4, the Philippines has administered a total of 62,474,334 jabs nationwide, with 28,718,856 individuals fully vaccinated, representing 37.23% of the country's target population.
