PH receives 38,400 AstraZeneca vaccines

The Philippines received 38,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines on Sunday night, March 7, bringing the total doses from the COVAX facility to 525,600.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles announced that 240,700 of these AstraZeneca doses have been deployed nationwide for the inoculation of healthcare workers and medical frontliners aged 60 and above.

This deployment is a significant help to the vaccination rollout, according to Nograles.

The Philippines can expect an additional 4.5 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from COVAX starting in May.

AstraZeneca's efficacy rate is 70% after the first dose, with increased efficacy after the second dose administered four to 12 weeks later.
