PH logs 6,739 new COVID-19 cases; India variant close contacts test positive

The Philippines' COVID-19 case count reached 1,138,187 with 6,739 new infections reported on Saturday.

Active cases slightly dropped to 56,709, with 93.4% experiencing mild symptoms, 2.2% asymptomatic, 1.9% severe, and 1.4% critical.

The DOH reported 8,952 recoveries and 93 new fatalities, bringing the cumulative total of recovered patients to 1,062,427 and the death toll to 19,051.

Nineteen duplicate cases were removed and 36 recoveries were reclassified as deaths after validation.

Nationwide ICU bed utilization is at 57%, and mechanical ventilator occupancy is at 39%.

In the National Capital Region, 63% of ICU beds and 45% of mechanical ventilators are in use.

Three close contacts of an overseas Filipino worker detected with the India variant have tested positive for COVID-19.
