PH lifts travel ban to China excluding Hubei

The Philippine government has lifted the travel ban to mainland China, excluding Hubei province, effective March 16, 2020.

This decision, adopted in a March 12 resolution by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Diseases, allows entry for returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) with valid visas and work permits, Filipino permanent residents, and government officials on official duty.

However, first-time deploying OFWs, students, dependents, and tourists are still prohibited from traveling to mainland China.

The ban was originally implemented in February to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

As of Friday last week, the death toll from the outbreak in mainland China reached 3,189, with the latest deaths occurring in Hubei province.
