PH, India to accelerate maritime cooperation

The Philippines and India have agreed to accelerate maritime cooperation and hold an inaugural dialogue soon in Manila to discuss potential partnerships.

Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo announced the agreement following a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

Both nations share a common interest in maintaining a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

The upcoming dialogue will cover areas such as marine environment protection, maritime domain awareness, shipping and seafaring, search and rescue operations, law enforcement, and ensuring the safety of Indian and Filipino seafarers, especially those in the Red Sea.

India is ready to build on its existing maritime partnerships with Manila.
