PH-India to pursue deeper bilateral relations
The Department of National Defense (DND) of the Philippines is developing a credible defense posture, with India committing to assist amidst rising tensions in the West Philippine Sea.
This agreement was solidified during a meeting between Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. and India's Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
India reaffirmed its support for the Philippines' stance on the West Philippine Sea and its commitment to a rules-based international order and peace in the Indo-Pacific.
Both nations agreed to enhance defense ties through multi-level dialogues, cooperative activities for capability development, and increased education and training exchanges.
Further collaboration will include defense industry partnerships, improved mobility and logistics, and joint efforts in emerging technologies, space domain awareness, and research and development.
Additionally, India emphasized closer cooperation on maritime domain awareness and shared best practices from its Information Fusion Centre-Indian Ocean Region.
