PH establishes 3,052 quarantine facilities for COVID-19 patients

The Philippines has established 3,052 quarantine facilities nationwide, capable of accommodating 211,474 patients for COVID-19.

This is a key development as the government aims to strengthen the role of local government units in combating the coronavirus.

The Philippine Sports Arena in Pasig City has been converted into a mega isolation center that can house at least 132 patients.

The government aims to conduct 12,000 or more COVID-19 tests per day, with the Philippine Red Cross opening a molecular testing laboratory.

The PRC plans to utilize 12 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machines which can test 12,000 samples every day.

The government is expecting to receive the first batch of 900,000 RT PCR test kits and two million rapid test kits this week.

As of Tuesday, the Department of Health has recorded 6,599 confirmed cases with 437 deaths and 654 recoveries.
