COVID-19 positivity rate drops to 8.6% nationwide

The COVID-19 positivity rate nationwide dropped to 8.6% as of June 18, a decrease from 10.3% on June 17.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 726 new COVID-19 cases nationwide on June 18, with 158 from the National Capital Region (NCR).

On the same day, the DOH recorded zero deaths and 870 recoveries, bringing the total active cases to 8,861.

Positivity rates in Metro Manila fell from 11.6% to 7.3% from June 10 to June 17.

In Luzon, 16 provinces observed lower positivity rates in the past week.

Notable decreases were seen in Bataan (24.2% from 32.2%), Cagayan (13.8% from 28.8%), and Isabela (29.2% from 40.6%).

Despite the overall decrease, Palawan and Pangasinan still saw their rates surge.

As of June 17, COVID-19 positivity rates in Metro Manila, Rizal, and Bulacan were below 10%.
