PH, China boost anti-crime cooperation

The Philippines and China are strengthening their cooperation to combat transnational organized crime, with Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin meeting Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian.

China appreciated the Philippines' recent actions against illegal offshore gambling and the rescue of Chinese nationals.

Senator Risa Hontiveros stated that this cooperation is essential, especially since transnational syndicates linked to POGOs often involve Chinese nationals.

Hontiveros cautioned that deported criminals should not be allowed to return to the Philippines, citing concerns about them potentially working for the Chinese State and engaging in spying.

The PAOCC highlighted that open communication and mutual support between the two nations demonstrate a shared commitment to curbing transnational organized crime.

This reinforced collaboration aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise and intelligence to effectively disrupt and dismantle criminal networks.
