PH acquired more Western COVID-19 vaccines than China-made

The Philippines has acquired more Western-developed COVID-19 vaccines than those made in China, according to NTF adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa.

Dr. Herbosa stated that the country purchased 40 million doses of Pfizer, 20 million doses of Moderna, and 17 million doses of AstraZeneca, totaling more than the Sinovac vaccines procured.

He refuted claims that China-made vaccines were purchased in greater quantities than Western brands, attributing the misinformation to incorrect data.

The NTF is aiming to increase vaccination output in larger regions to reach the target of 54 million fully inoculated Filipinos.

Dr. Herbosa expressed optimism about meeting the vaccination goal, citing the pre-Christmas daily vaccination rate of 900,000 to 1 million individuals.
