PEZA chief calls for unified ECQ plan

Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Charito Plaza is calling for a unified and synchronized plan, rules, policies, and enforcements from various government agencies and local government units (LGUs) regarding the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Plaza expressed concern over the "kanya-kanya" (to each his own) approach and the inconsistent implementation of lockdown policies by LGUs, which hampers the flow of goods and worker mobility.

She emphasized that cooperation among government agencies is crucial to balance public health concerns with the continued production of essential goods.

PEZA is actively assisting export-oriented companies to ensure business continuity during the ECQ while coordinating with the IATF-EID and other agencies to maintain smooth supply chains.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Finance (DOF) have introduced incentives through Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 20-02 to support the production and importation of essential products, allowing manufacturers to sell 80 percent of in-demand items to the domestic market.
