PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC) has started construction of its 40-megawatt Limbauan Solar Power Project (LSPP) in San Pablo, Isabela.
The LSPP, a subsidiary of BKS Green Energy Corp. (a joint venture between PGEC and Japanese firm TAISEI Corp.), is expected to generate up to 59 gigawatt-hours of clean energy annually, enough to power approximately 33,000 households.
The project utilizes 52,640 solar panels from Trina Solar and is divided into two phases: a 6-MW connection to Isabela Electric Cooperative-II and a 34-MW link to the NGCP's transmission line.
The solar plant is slated for completion by the end of 2025 and aims to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 31,700 metric tons.
PGEC Vice President Maria Victoria M. Olivar expressed excitement about the project's commencement, highlighting the support from local stakeholders and government officials.
The solar plant is anticipated to boost local economic activity and create jobs in Isabela, while also providing additional clean and renewable power to the Luzon grid.
