MGreen activates 52.8MW solar power plant in Isabela ahead of schedule

MGen Renewable Energy Inc. (MGreen) has activated its 52.8-megawatt solar power plant in Cordon, Isabela, four months ahead of its scheduled completion.

The solar facility is expected to supply clean energy to more than 53,000 households and is recognized as one of the largest under the Department of Energy's second Green Energy Auction (GEA 2) in the Cagayan Valley region.

Annually, the plant aims to reduce carbon emissions by 50,400 metric tons, equivalent to removing over 11,700 gasoline-powered cars from the road.

The project aligns with the government's goals to increase renewable energy's share in the power mix.

Energy Assistant Secretary Mario Marasigan highlighted the plant's economic and social benefits, including job creation, local business growth, and socio-economic developments.

He also mentioned the Energy Regulation 1-94 benefit, which grants host communities a share of the power plant's profits.
