Cusi: Anti-Duterte attacks politically motivated

The PDP-Laban faction led by Alfonso Cusi claims that criticisms against President Duterte are politically motivated attacks linked to the upcoming 2022 elections.

Cusi stated that these attacks are desperate attempts by the opposition to counter their expected defeat in the 2022 polls, noting that President Duterte still commands very high trust and satisfaction ratings.

The President has recently accepted the PDP-Laban's nomination to run as vice president alongside Senator Christopher "Bong" Go.

Cusi cited a Pulse Asia survey from June 7 to 16 where Duterte registered a 65 percent approval rating and a 55 percent trust rating.

The opposition allegedly uses issues, even without concrete evidence, to make the public dislike the administration and gain a chance at victory.

Cusi cited the Senate blue ribbon committee's investigation into the Department of Health's use of COVID-19 funds as an example of these attacks.

He specifically mentioned Senator Richard Gordon, who chairs the Senate blue ribbon panel and the Philippine Red Cross, in relation to these criticisms.
