PDEA busts shabu worth PHP13.6M in Marawi City

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives arrested a suspected drug peddler and confiscated approximately PHP13.6 million worth of shabu in Marawi City.

The suspect, identified as 'Alias Orak,' 21, was apprehended during a drug sting operation in Barangay Bangolo Poblacion on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities had been monitoring the suspect for several days prior to his arrest.

PDEA-BARMM Director Gil Cesario Castro believes the arrested individual is part of a large drug syndicate active in Marawi City and Lanao del Sur.

The suspect is currently detained at the PDEA facility and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The operation was a collaborative effort involving the PDEA and elements from the 45th Special Action Company, 4th Special Action Battalion, 51st Infantry Battalion, and the Marawi City Police Station.
