PCG rescues man who fell overboard at Lucena Port

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully rescued a 50-year-old man who fell overboard at Lucena Port, Quezon, on Sunday.

The man, a resident of Poblacion, Milagros, Masbate, was traveling with his niece from Bapor, Masbate, when he jumped from the vessel MV Virgen De Peñafrancia XII's starboard ramp as it prepared to dock.

His niece stated that he has a pre-existing mental or psychological condition.

The PCG's CGSS Lucena SAR Team, coordinated with the Southern Tagalog Sea Marshal Unit, launched the rescue mission after an alert from Starhorse Shipping Lines.

He was brought ashore and assessed, with his son later taking custody of him.

Bureau of Fire Protection EMS personnel transported him to Quezon Medical Center for further evaluation.
