Amid surge in Mindanao: PCG brings COVID-19 vaccines to far-flung Tawi-Tawi
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) transported 3,000 vials of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines to Mapun, Tawi-Tawi on June 23.
The PCG vessel BRP Tubbataha (MRRV-4401) carried the vaccines, along with 55 medical workers from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO).
On June 24, at least 800 residents, including healthcare workers, senior citizens, and individuals with comorbidities, received their first dose of the vaccine.
The PCG also delivered essential medical supplies for health frontliners in Tawi-Tawi.
These efforts were undertaken amid a surge of COVID-19 cases in Mindanao.
