PCG deploys over 1,100 personnel for Traslacion security

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is set to deploy over 1,100 personnel to support government forces in ensuring the safe and peaceful conduct of this year's Traslacion.

These PCG personnel will come from the PCG District National Capital Region - Central Luzon and will work with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Manila City government.

PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan stated that millions of devotees are expected and the PCG assists in ensuring public safety and security against possible risks, including terrorism, stampedes, fire, and natural disasters.

The PCG deployment began on December 30 last year and will end on January 10.

The deployed PCG personnel include K9 teams, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units, Special Operations Groups (SOGs), Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) teams, and Deployable Response Groups (DRGs) assigned at strategic points.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will contribute approximately 1,000 personnel to the security efforts, with the PCG also mobilizing its forces.

The PCG will provide a medical team and be positioned near the Pasig River for rapid response, with personnel on standby on small boats and rubber boats to monitor bridges along the procession route.
