PBBM to grant subpoena powers to flood control probe body

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. intends to grant subpoena powers to an independent commission tasked with investigating flood control issues.

This subpoena authority will allow the fact-finding body to summon individuals involved in alleged anomalous flood control projects.

Presidential spokesperson Claire Castro stated that the President wants the commission to have the necessary power and "teeth" to fulfill its mandate.

An executive order formally establishing this independent commission is currently being finalized.

Castro acknowledged concerns that individuals, including contractors linked to supposed "ghost" flood control projects, might leave the country as no charges have been filed against them yet.
