PBBM orders private contractors to preposition assets ahead of typhoons

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has instructed private contractors with government contracts to pre-position their assets like trucks and machinery in anticipation of Typhoon Nika and an incoming tropical depression.

Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez confirmed the President's directive, emphasizing that this is a new measure involving private entities.

The instruction specifically targets contractors engaged with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

President Marcos has also empowered the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to issue directives for local government units regarding work and class suspensions if the Office of the President has not yet made an announcement.

Chavez assured the public that the government has sufficient funds to respond to upcoming typhoons until the end of December.
