Pres. Marcos Jr. declares April 22 Day of National Mourning for Nora Aunor

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has declared April 22, 2025, as a Day of National Mourning for National Artist Nora Aunor.

Proclamation No. 870 cited Aunor's outstanding contributions to Philippine cinema, television, and music as a significant loss to the nation's cultural and artistic community.

As a National Artist, Aunor is entitled to state necrological services and will be laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

The proclamation highlighted Aunor's artistry, depth, and dedication, stating that she elevated artistic standards and inspired generations.

During the Day of National Mourning, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings and installations nationwide and abroad.

Nora Aunor, regarded as the Philippines' "Superstar," was conferred with the Order of National Artist in 2022 and passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 71.
