PBA Season 50 extended to support Gilas Pilipinas Olympic bid

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) will extend its Season 50 to over 14 months, starting October 4, to support Gilas Pilipinas' buildup and participation in international competitions with the goal of qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The league's longest season will include breaks for Gilas' participation in events such as the 2026 Asia Games in Nagoya, Japan, and the 2027 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

PBA stars June Mar Fajardo, CJ Perez, Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar, Calvin Oftana, Chris Newsome, and naturalized player Justin Brownlee have been loaned to Gilas.

Gilas will open the six-window opening round of qualifiers on November 28 against Guam, with a rematch on December 1.

The Filipinos will then face New Zealand on February 26, 2026, and Australia on March 1, followed by rematches on July 3 and July 6, 2026, respectively.
