PBA adds 10 new players to 50 greatest list

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) celebrated its 50th anniversary with a grand recognition event at the Solaire Resort North in Quezon City.

Ten new players were inducted into the PBA's 50 Greatest Players list during the ceremony.

Among the newly recognized greats are active stars June Mar Fajardo and Scottie Thompson, along with former players Nelson Asaytono, Bong Hawkins, Danny Seigle, Manny Victorino, Jeffrey Cariaso, Abe King, and Arnie Tuadles.

Jeff Cariaso, Manny Victorino, and Bong Hawkins expressed their pride and felt blessed for being recognized among the league's all-time greats.

Hawkins was a building block of the Milkmen's rise in the 1990s and was part of the 1996 PBA Mythical Team that won a Grand Slam with Johnny Abarrientos and Jojo Lastimosa.

Cariaso, who retired in 2010, won Rookie of the Year in 1995 and worked hard to be useful on both ends of the floor.

The selection of the 10 new players was overseen by a 10-man screening committee chaired by former PBA commissioner Sonny Barrios.

Awards were also given to long-time PBA staff and members of the media.
