PBA board meets in Las Vegas for Season 50, golden anniversary plans

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) board of governors convened in Las Vegas to finalize plans for the upcoming PBA Season 50, including major events on October 4 and 5 to mark the league's golden anniversary.

A key agenda item was the election of PBA officers, with discussions centered on whether Ricky Vargas would continue as PBA chairman while also being considered for the presidency of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.

If Vargas retains his position, it would be his ninth consecutive term as PBA chairman, and he is also slated to lead the Philippines contingent as chef de mission for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Commissioner Willie Marcial and Vice Chairman Alfrancis Chua, alongside governors from various teams, were present at the summit to discuss league matters.

Among the critical topics addressed was the potential sale of the NorthPort Batang Pier franchise to PUREGO.
