Pasig City procures 400,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses

Pasig City has procured 400,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine amounting to approximately P100 million, Mayor Vico Sotto announced.

The local government signed a tripartite agreement with AstraZeneca and the national government for the vaccine purchase.

Mayor Sotto stated that Pasig City plans to acquire vaccines from other manufacturers as well when opportunities become available.

The AstraZeneca vaccine was chosen due to its lower cost per dose, ease of transportation and storage under normal refrigeration, acceptable efficacy rate of around 70% (potentially 90% with an adjusted dose), and its approval in other countries like the UK.
