Pascual appointed DTI secretary

President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has appointed former University of the Philippines president Alfredo Pascual as the next Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Pascual, a 74-year-old development banker and finance expert, previously served as UP president and UP Board of Regents chair from 2011 to 2017.

He also holds extensive experience as an adviser to various organizations, including the Philippine Institute for Development Studies and the World Health Organization.

Pascual has also been an independent director for Megawide Construction Corporation and lead independent director of SM Investments Corporation.

He currently serves as the president of the Management Association of the Philippines.

Pascual will be succeeding Ramon Lopez, who expressed confidence in Pascual's ability to lead the DTI to greater heights.
