Pasay sends home 771 LSIs from NAIA

The Pasay City government, in collaboration with national agencies, successfully sent home 771 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who were stranded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

These LSIs were unable to travel due to canceled flights or a lack of plane tickets.

The repatriation efforts, which spanned from June 6 to June 17, involved providing accommodation and essentials to the stranded individuals.

The LSIs were initially located at NAIA Terminals 2 and 3, and the NAIA Expressway, before being transferred to Villamor Airbase Elementary School and the Philippine State College of Aeronautics.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano oversaw the operation, ensuring the LSIs received food and other necessities with the support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and civic groups.

The stranded individuals were transported back to their respective provinces via various modes of transport, including commercial flights from Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Air Asia, as well as navy vessels, private jets, and Philippine Air Force aircraft.

The destinations included numerous cities across the Philippines, such as Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and Zamboanga.
