Army facilities near full capacity for LSIs

Philippine Army facilities are nearing full capacity as they accommodate 344 locally stranded individuals (LSIs), with the Army Gym and Libingan ng mga Bayani being utilized as temporary shelters.

The Army spokesperson, Colonel Ramon Zagala, advised LSIs to confirm their flight schedules with airlines before heading to the airport or Army facilities to prevent further overcrowding.

Although 34 LSIs were released on Sunday, 133 more are currently being processed for accommodation.

This surge in LSIs comes as mobility restrictions are eased, leading many stranded individuals to attempt travel back to their provinces, though some flights face cancellations due to local government unit protocols.

The Army is prioritizing the safety of all individuals by managing accommodation and ensuring rapid testing for COVID-19, isolating any positive cases to prevent spread.
