Pasay hotels to house arriving OFWs

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano has allowed hotels and hostels in the city to operate on the condition that they will only accommodate arriving and departing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

This swift response came after a meeting with Deputy Administrator Faustino Sabarez III of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), who was seeking assistance to find temporary shelters for OFWs.

Sabarez specifically mentioned the need to house around 100 sea-based workers arriving on Saturday.

The Mayor instructed her staff to inform the establishments about the new directive, emphasizing the importance of social distancing.

OWWA will shoulder the expenses for the lodging and food of the OFWs, a move that will greatly benefit workers coming from distant provinces.
