Authorities rescued nearly 1,000 Filipino workers from a suspected scam hub in Bataan on Thursday, Oct. 31.
The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) led the raid, which was backed by the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Special Action Force (SAF), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and Police Regional Office-3, using a search warrant dated Oct. 29.
The sprawling facility, located inside a freeport zone in Sitio Cabog-cabog, Balanga City, allegedly conducted love scams, cyberscams, and online gambling operations.
PAOCC spokesman Winston Casio stated the facility operated under a permit from the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) but lacked a license from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) for online gambling.
The complex included a functioning dormitory and six buildings housing separate sub-operations.
