Palace urges businesses not to exploit Odette victims

Malacañang is urging business owners not to take advantage of Filipinos affected by Typhoon Odette amidst reported looting and profiteering incidents.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles pleaded for compassion, especially during the Christmas season.

Nograles emphasized that typhoon victims are already enduring immense hardship and should not be exploited.

He called for mutual assistance among Filipinos, urging them not to take advantage of those in need.

President Rodrigo Duterte has instructed relevant agencies, including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), to investigate the reported looting and profiteering.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has augmented the number of police officers in areas with reported looting and overpriced goods by sending additional personnel from unaffected regions.
