Palace not ruling out MGCQ for Metro Manila in November

Malacañang has not ruled out the possibility of Metro Manila transitioning to a Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) in November.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque stated that lowering COVID-19 cases is possible if residents continue to observe health protocols like mask-wearing, hand washing, and social distancing.

This statement follows Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez's earlier remarks expressing optimism about the potential shift.

MGCQ is the most lenient quarantine classification, allowing for increased business operations while maintaining health measures.

Metro Manila is currently under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) until October 31.

The Philippines' COVID-19 tally reached 311,694 with 2,426 new infections reported, the majority of which were in Metro Manila.
