Palace hopes for justice after murder raps filed vs Bantag in Percy Lapid case

The Palace expressed hope for justice to be served following the filing of murder charges against suspended Bureau of Corrections chief Gerald Bantag and others in connection with the killing of broadcaster Percy Lapid.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is aware of the developments in the case, according to Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary Cheloy Garafil.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated that after the filing of the murder complaint, the case will proceed properly, aiming to lay the issue to rest.

Bantag is among the 160 persons of interest identified by the police in the murder of Lapid, whose real name is Percival Mabasa.

Lapid, a prominent radio commentator, was shot dead on October 3 while en route home in Las Piñas City.

Bantag had been preventively suspended in October due to the death of alleged middleman Jun Villamor while incarcerated at the New Bilibid Prison.
