Palace asks public for COVID-19 response recommendations

Malacañang has urged the public to offer recommendations instead of criticizing President Duterte's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, stating that past remarks are irrelevant as the government is already addressing the crisis.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo explained that Duterte's initial downplaying of the virus was meant to prevent panic and anxiety among Filipinos.

Panelo clarified that the President's early statements were in line with advisories from the World Health Organization (WHO) at a time when the situation was not yet considered a pandemic.

He emphasized that once the severity of the threat became apparent, President Duterte immediately implemented measures such as a nationwide lockdown and convened the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF).

Panelo encouraged citizens to channel their feedback into constructive suggestions that can aid the government's efforts.

He assured the public that all recommendations are relayed to President Duterte and the IATF for immediate consideration and action.
