PAGCOR grants P6.9M to Myanmar quake responders

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has awarded P6.9 million in cash incentives to 138 Filipino responders and Philippine Air Force personnel for their humanitarian and search-and-rescue mission in Myanmar.

Each of the 138 responders received P50,000 during a ceremonial turnover held on July 4th in Quezon City.

The Philippine contingent was deployed to Myanmar in April following a magnitude 7.7 earthquake that occurred on March 28th and resulted in over 2,000 fatalities and nearly 4,000 injuries.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco affirmed the agency's dedication to supporting Filipino humanitarian endeavors globally, emphasizing the bravery and compassion demonstrated by the responders.

The mission, which lasted for 12 days, included personnel from various agencies such as the Office of Civil Defense, MMDA, DENR, and DOH, providing crucial medical and logistical assistance.
