PAGASA monitors 2 LPAs, one inside PAR affecting Metro Manila

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring two low pressure areas (LPAs), one of which is inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and affecting Metro Manila and several Luzon provinces.

The LPA inside the PAR, located 130 kilometers east southeast of Baler, Aurora, is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression and may dissipate by Wednesday, October 15.

This LPA will continue to cause scattered rain and thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Isabela, Aurora, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Bataan, and Camarines Norte, with possible flash floods and landslides.

PAGASA is also monitoring a second LPA located 1,760 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao, outside the PAR.

This second LPA has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within 24 hours and could enter the PAR by Thursday, October 16, or Friday, October 17, potentially named Ramil.

The potential tropical cyclone Ramil may either cross extreme Northern Luzon or mainland Northern Luzon.
