PAGASA forecasts danger level heat index in 6 PH areas on Sunday

Six areas in the Philippines are forecasted to experience a "danger level" heat index on Sunday, April 6, according to PAGASA.

These locations include Virac in Catanduanes, Dagupan City in Pangasinan, Puerto Princesa City and Cuyo in Palawan, Dumangas in Iloilo, and La Granja in La Carlota, Negros Occidental.

The heat index in Virac is projected to reach 43°C, while Dagupan City, Puerto Princesa City, Cuyo, Dumangas, and La Granja are expected to have a heat index of 42°C.

PAGASA defines the "danger level" heat index as ranging from 42°C to 51°C, with conditions of 52°C and above considered "extreme danger."

Under the "danger level," individuals are at risk of experiencing heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

PAGASA recommends that the public limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and wear light clothing to prevent heat-related illnesses.
