Sen. Padilla probes PCO over alleged misinformation

Senator Robinhood Padilla filed Senate Resolution No. 188, initiating a Senate investigation into the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) for allegedly spreading unverified, potentially propagandizing, and misleading information.

The resolution aims to improve government communication standards and ensure accountability in releasing official information.

Padilla highlighted issues such as a PCO official's statement about Vice President Sara Duterte's readiness to replace President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., and false claims about the resignations of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.

In response, the PCO welcomed the Senate inquiry but urged Senator Padilla to provide proof for his criticisms.

PCO Undersecretary Claire Castro stated that the agency will fully cooperate with the Senate to clarify the issues.

Castro also questioned Padilla's claims about the PCO's communication style, asking where he obtained such information and urging him to reveal the source of any audio clips.
