P83 billion worth of illegal drugs seized in 3 years

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that the government has seized approximately P83 billion worth of illegal drugs during his first three years in office.

The large-scale interdictions included confiscations from warehouses, laboratories, and thwarted smuggling attempts across various locations like Zambales, Pangasinan, Cagayan, Tondo, Muntinlupa, Ilocos Norte, Cebu, Batangas, Rizal, and Cavite.

He highlighted the destruction of almost one and a half tons of shabu and other illegal drugs last month, including those found drifting off the coast of Zambales and later incinerated in Capas, Tarlac.

The operations have led to the arrest of over 153,000 individuals, with more than 9,600 identified as high-value targets.

Marcos Jr. noted that the total arrests in just three years have almost matched the previous administration's.

He emphasized that the government's recalibrated war on drugs, focusing on intercepting shipments from large-scale down to street-level transactions, is effective and ongoing.
