Vena Energy to invest P20.2 billion in Northern Samar wind farm

Vena Energy's local unit, Gemini Wind Energy Corp. (GWEC), will invest P20.2 billion in a 304-megawatt wind farm in Northern Samar, with operations expected to begin by late 2026.

The Gemini Wind Power Project will cover 777 hectares across 15 towns in Northern Samar and will utilize 38 wind turbine generators, each with a 9 MW capacity.

GWEC highlighted that the wind farm will provide long-term solutions to the Philippines' power supply shortages and aligns with the goals of the Renewable Energy Act of 2008.

The company considers wind power the most commercially feasible renewable energy option for the province, offering minimal environmental impact compared to fossil fuel alternatives.

This significant project was a successful bid in the government's 2023 green energy auction and has been recognized as an energy project of national significance by the Department of Energy and a strategic investment by the Board of Investments.
