Authorities seize P14.15M worth of marijuana, ecstasy in 6 operations

Authorities seized approximately PHP14,157,800 worth of high-grade marijuana (kush) and ecstasy across six operations in the last four days.

A joint operation at the Central Mail Exchange Center on Thursday, December 5, resulted in the confiscation of 21 parcels containing 7.79 kg of kush valued at PHP10,907,400 and 1,229 ecstasy tablets worth PHP2,089,300.

The parcels were declared as various items, including tea, wiring harnesses, clothing, books, and skin products.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is coordinating with the US Drug Enforcement Administration as many packages were sent from the US and expects to file cases against 11 or 12 consignees before Christmas.

Separately, anti-narcotics agents seized P840,000 worth of compressed dried marijuana leaves via a forwarding company in General Santos City on Friday, December 6.

PDEA-12 and police are cooperating in identifying the shippers and consignees of the marijuana confiscated in General Santos City.

PDEA spokesperson Dir. Lawin Gabales noted an increase in marijuana flowing in from other countries.
