The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is launching new health programs offering free diagnostic services and medicines for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families.
OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan stated that these initiatives are a response to the most frequent requests from OFWs concerning medicine and hospitalization.
The program will involve partnerships with the Office of the First Lady, the Office of the President, and PhilHealth's Yakap Program.
OWWA will collaborate with existing agencies like PhilHealth, the Department of Health, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development to ensure accessibility of these services.
The health programs will initially be available in Metro Manila, with plans for expansion to all 17 OWWA regional offices.
OWWA is scheduled to meet with PhilHealth next week to finalize details of the collaboration.
In addition to health services, OWWA has also upgraded its OFW lounge with new amenities such as resting areas, massage chairs, and a shower facility for stranded workers.
