OVP says ready for any budget, but some programs remain unfunded

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) is ready for any budget amount Congress decides to approve for 2026, according to spokesperson Ruth Castelo.

Castelo stated that the OVP's proposed budget for 2026 is P902.8 million, an increase from their P744-million budget last year.

She also mentioned that they would settle for whatever Congress decides, emphasizing that they would "ready for any eventuality" and "do whatever needs to be done."

Castelo noted that if the funding is bigger, more programs can be accomplished and completed.

However, she confirmed that several OVP programs, including medical and burial assistance and student nutrition programs, remain unfunded.

The OVP spokesperson previously defended the office's relief efforts as augmenting or complementing programs of other executive agencies.
