One NPA rebel killed in Bulacan clash

Government forces clashed with suspected New People's Army rebels in Norzagaray, Bulacan on Friday afternoon, resulting in the death of one insurgent.

The encounter occurred in Sitio Balagbag, Barangay San Lorenzo, when troopers from the Army's 703rd Infantry Brigade responded to reports of extortion activities.

A 10-minute firefight ensued after the armed men initiated the engagement by firing at the approaching soldiers.

The rebels eventually retreated, leaving behind their slain comrade, a recovered rifle, and a backpack containing documents.

No casualties were reported among the government troops.

Pursuit operations are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
