Ombudsman to file charges vs Discaya contractors over flood control projects

Contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya are expected to face criminal charges soon for their alleged involvement in anomalous flood control projects, as announced by Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla.

Ombudsman Remulla indicated that preliminary investigations for at least three of the nine cases involving the Discayas have concluded and are ready for resolution.

He anticipates that these cases, which could include charges of malversation and plunder, may be filed with the Sandiganbayan as early as Friday this week or next week.

This follows the recent filing of malversation and graft charges against former Ako Bicol partylist representative Zaldy Co and several DPWH officials concerning a P289-million flood control project in Oriental Mindoro.

The DPWH had previously filed complaints against the Discayas over dubious flood control projects in Bulacan province.

Remulla also mentioned that several senators tagged in the controversy are nearing subpoenas.
