OCD revises Ulysses agri damage to P4.7B

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has rectified earlier figures on agriculture damage caused by Typhoon Ulysses, revising the reported P540 billion to P4.7 billion due to a mix-up in reported counts.

The mix-up occurred when figures were erroneously tagged at a billion count when they were only in millions, according to OCD spokesman Mark Timbal.

Central Luzon sustained the highest agriculture damage at almost P1.4 billion, followed by Cagayan Valley with almost P1.3 billion.

CALABARZON reported P684 million in agriculture damage, Cordillera Administrative Region P468 million, Bicol region P327 million, and the National Capital Region P349 million.

Infrastructure damage is reported at P10.8 billion, with Cagayan Valley being the hardest hit at almost P5 billion.

Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad of the NDRRMC stated that these figures are from rapid damage assessments and will be validated through a post-disaster needs assessment for a comprehensive rehabilitation and recovery plan.

The fatality count for Typhoon Ulysses remains at 73, with 19 people still missing.
