NUP files ethics complaint vs Rep. Barzaga over lewd posts, alleged misconduct

The National Unity Party (NUP) is filing an ethics complaint against Dasmariñas Rep. Kiko Barzaga for alleged misconduct, including "lewd content," "ostentatious display of wealth," and demeaning posts about women on social media.

NUP chairperson Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno presented lewd photos and alleged ostentatious display of wealth as evidence against Barzaga.

According to NUP, Barzaga committed four violations as a public official, including failing to follow the House code of conduct and ethical standards.

Puno stated that Barzaga allegedly barged into Majority Leader Sandro Marcos' office to seek backing for his speakership bid, promising the position of Deputy Speaker to those who would support him.

Barzaga previously campaigned for the speakership during a session and threatened to declare all seats vacant.

Barzaga resigned from the NUP last week after allegations of soliciting signatures to unseat Speaker Martin Romualdez.

In response to claims that he is "unwell," Barzaga stated that he would not release his medical records unless there is a court order questioning his sanity or ability to serve.

Barzaga refuted Puno's claims that he is unwell and stated he is ready should the House ethics committee remove him from his post.
