TRB expects 10% surge in Lenten season motorists

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) predicts traffic congestion will be heaviest on Holy Wednesday afternoon through Maundy Thursday, with a similar surge expected on Easter Sunday and the following day.

An influx of motorists from Northern and Central Luzon is expected on major toll roads, with traffic volume along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx), and the NLEx Connector projected to peak at 493,000 vehicles daily.

This represents a 10-percent increase in Lenten season motorists compared to previous years, with regular NLEx traffic rising to 350,000 vehicles daily from 320,000 in 2023, and the NLEx Connector seeing 19,000 vehicles daily from 17,000.

SCTEx traffic remains steady at 79,000 to 80,000 vehicles daily for both 2024 and 2025.

In preparation, toll operators have deployed extra patrol vehicles, traffic management personnel, and enforcers, with tow trucks and assistance personnel on standby.

The Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) has also launched its annual "Biyaheng Arangkada Semana Santa" motorist assistance program from April 16 to April 21 to ensure road safety and efficiency.
