NGCP restores power to Camarines Sur, Sorsogon ahead of schedule

Electricity has been restored in the entire provinces of Camarines Sur and Sorsogon, and parts of Albay, ahead of schedule, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

As of November 9, transmission services to electric cooperatives in Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, and partially in Albay were restored.

The NGCP reported that the Daraga-Ligao and Ligao-Polangui-Iriga 69kV lines, along with the Naga-Tinambac 69kV lines, were re-energized on Monday evening.

These restored lines provide power to the franchise areas of Albay Power and Energy Corp. (APEC), CASURECO II, and CASURECO III.

Previously, on Saturday, power was restored to the Naga-Lagonoy 69kV and Naga-Libmanan 69kV lines, serving CASURECO I and CASURECO IV.

The Bacon-Manito geothermal power plant was also re-energized on November 7, allowing the restoration of the Daraga-Bacman 230kV line, which supplies power to parts of Albay and all of Sorsogon.

NGCP continues to work on restoring remaining lines in Albay and synchronizing them with the main grid, while permanent restoration of toppled backbone structures is underway.

The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has also sent personnel to assist in power restoration efforts in Bicol as part of Task Force Kapatid.
