The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has fully restored power transmission in Mindanao following Typhoon Odette.
However, restoration efforts in the Visayas are ongoing, with Negros Oriental, Southern Leyte, and Bohol still without transmission services.
Typhoon Odette damaged around 800 NGCP transmission poles, with 300 in Southern Leyte and 200 in Bohol.
Approximately 1,100 NGCP line personnel have been deployed for restoration work.
NGCP spokesperson Cynthia Albanza noted that while their backbone transmission lines are being repaired, electric cooperatives with smaller distribution lines may have sustained even more damage.
Restored transmission services do not guarantee immediate electricity for households, as electric cooperatives and distribution utilities must also be ready to receive and distribute the power.
